Orlando Frazão wins the prize for Best Physics Dissertation, 2009-2010
The Portuguese Physical Society has awarded the prize Fernando Bragança Gil 2012 , for best Physics Dissertation in a Portuguese Institution, to ORLANDO FRAZÂO. The jury analyzed about 80 dissertations defended in 2009 and 2010.
Nuno Santos awarded Seiva Trupe Prize
The theater company Seiva Trupe distinguishes every year Porto citizens with outstanding contributions to culture. Nuno Santos, researcher in CAUP and visiting professor of DFA, received the 2012 award in the area of Science.
A planet in a star next door
A team led by Xavier Dumusque, which includes Nuno Santos from CAUP, announced the discovery of a planet orbiting Alpha Centauri B, the closest star system to the Sun
Cláudio Gomes awarded "Incentive to research prize"
Physics Master student Claudio Gomes was awarded a prize "Incentive to research" by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, for a project supervised by Pedro Avelino, in CAUP.
ENAA Meeting
The Encontro Nacional de Astronomia e Astrofísica (ENAA) comes back for the sixth time to the Centro de Astrofísica da Universidade do Porto (CAUP), co-organized with the Sociedade Portuguesa de Astronomia (SPA).
8th Physics Summer School: yet another success.
The 8th Summer School took place from 2-7 September and brought to the department 66 secondary school students, including 11 foreign students.
